Tsunami on the Square is a performing arts and culture festival in Prescott, Arizona. Since 1999, it has featured local and world class performers. Performances include circus arts, fire dancing, capoeira, dance and drumming, Native American hoop dancing, stilt theater, butoh and more. In the past, it was typically on the Saturday of the third weekend of June. In 2015, Tsunami will be on Saturday, October 24th.
One long standing Tsunami tradition is Circus Camp for Kids. Historically, up to 200 kids learned to walk on stilts, make costumes, become clowns, play drums and more. The 2015 project is skipping Circus Camp, but that is in the works for future years as long as the community is willing to support it.
Tsunami on the Square ran for a solid fifteen years before having to skip the 2014 year.
We depend largely on volunteers. Join the effort. There are plenty of ways to plug in. We normally tend to start thinking about Tsunami in the weeks leading up to the festival, but it’s really a year round project.
